Are you a TechStar?

I’d like to let you know about a project I’ve been working on for quite a while now. It’s called Techstars, and we’ve just announced it publicly today following coverage in the Boulder Daily Camera. The site at Techstars.org is up, and I’d like to invite you to check it out.

This summer, Techstars will provide seed capital for ten new tech companies. These companies will spend this summer in Boulder building their prototypes in a sort of “startup camp.” Throughout the summer, they’ll have access to more than thirty incredible mentors and will be exposed to about forty educational opportunities. We’ll be helping these new founders with their startup issues, go-to-market and product strategies, and organizing an investor day towards the end of the summer. Basically, it’s going to be one intense summer and an incredible opportunity for the founders of these ten new companies.

For a bit more info about the project, check out the 3 minute video that Brad Feld, Jared Polis, David Brown and I made about the program, or Brad’s excellent description on his blog.

So who are the companies who will participate in Techstars? Well, we don’t know yet. Maybe it’s you. We’re asking for applications, and we’ll invite the ten best into the program. The application deadline is March 31st. You can see the full timeline here.

We’re pretty excited about this project. When you get this much energy and talent in one place some pretty amazing things can happen. At least we hope so. If you’d like to follow all the details, check out the Techstars blog.
